The Lambeth Climate Partnership coordinates climate action across the borough by bringing together local government, businesses, community organisations, and residents. It aims to accelerate progress towards net-zero emissions, increase climate resilience, and ensure a transition that benefits all communities.

The membership of all seven BIDs – Brixton, South Bank, Vauxhall One, This is Clapham, Station to Station, InStreatham, and WeAreWaterloo – demonstrates a commitment from the borough’s key commercial hubs to Lambeth’s climate ambitions. Each BID is already running sustainability initiatives, including waste reduction schemes, green logistics, energy efficiency projects, and programmes to promote active travel among local businesses and residents.

This borough-wide collaboration will strengthen the sharing of ideas and resources between BIDs, amplify their impact, and ensure local business voices are central to shaping a cleaner, fairer Lambeth.

We’re proud to welcome all seven of Lambeth’s Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) to the Lambeth Climate Partnership. This is a powerful statement of intent from our business community and a vital step towards our shared ambition of a sustainable and fairer borough.

Our local BIDs are already leading the way on sustainability, from cutting emissions to promoting greener ways of working. By coming together through the Partnership, we can accelerate climate action, support local jobs and enterprise, and ensure no community is left behind in the transition to net zero.

The Lambeth Climate Partnership will now work with the BIDs to co-design next steps for borough-wide emissions reductions, in line with Lambeth’s Climate Action Plan, and continue to grow our Green Economy. Find out more about the Green Economy Strategy. (opens in a new window)

What can I do to help?

You can make your home or workplace cooler by improving insulation, adding shutters to windows, painting your roof and walls white, and increasing greenery

Opt for energy-efficient appliances and light bulbs to cut down on electricity use. Make it a habit to turn off lights and electronics when not in use, and unplug chargers to prevent phantom energy consumption.

Take steps to fix leaks in faucets and pipes, and install water-saving appliances and fixtures. Incorporate water conservation practices into your daily routine, such as turning off taps when not needed.

Consider using public transportation, carpooling, or ridesharing to reduce your carbon footprint. If possible, opt for fuel-efficient or electric vehicles, and explore alternative modes of transportation like walking or biking

Explore options like solar panels or wind turbines for home energy. Choose energy providers that prioritize renewable sources, and advocate for policies that encourage the use of clean energy.

Reduce meat consumption, particularly red meat, and opt for locally sourced and sustainably produced foods. Consider adopting a vegetarian or vegan diet to lower your environmental impact

Share information on climate change and its impacts with friends and family. Encourage sustainable practices, and support educational initiatives in your community to raise awareness.
