Is your business beginning its climate action journey, looking to accelerate its efforts, or rethinking its priorities in the face of growing sustainability challenges? Join us on Wednesday 20 November at the Sustainable Ventures head offices for an evening where Lambeth Council and Lambeth businesses connect to shape practical solutions for overcoming barriers to climate action!

Drawing on research and feedback from businesses across the borough, this event will provide valuable lessons and explore ways to unlock new opportunities for businesses.

What We’ll Cover:

  • Explore Key Insights: Hear the results of our engagement research, highlighting the common barriers businesses face in taking climate action. This will set the stage and inform later discussions.

  • Share Your Experience: Tell us about the barriers specific to your business. Through real-time feedback, you’ll help prioritise solutions that address the most pressing challenges in the room and unlock growth potential.

  • Shape Future Initiatives: Learn about ongoing support and potential upcoming opportunities, such as connecting via our local sustainability WhatsApp group, promotion for your businesses, and future events to help you navigate legislative changes and collaborative projects.

  • Introducing a Draft Action Plan: Provide feedback on the proposed action plan to ensure it aligns with your business’s needs. Your input will guide the direction of future sustainability initiatives in the borough.

  • Build Strategic Connections: Register for focused networking sessions with other businesses and sustainability experts to exchange ideas on practical solutions around adaptation, energy and buildings, and circularity.

Why Attend?

  • Directly Influence Local Action: Play a pivotal role in shaping the programmes and initiatives to support businesses and local government in overcoming climate action barriers.

  • Strengthen Your Network: Build relationships with local businesses and sustainability experts tackling similar challenges.

  • Stay Informed and Competitive: Stay ahead of sustainability trends and ensure your business is equipped for future challenges.

  • Promote your Business: Already doing great work, fantastic! We’d love to spotlight your business through our networks.

This is your opportunity to engage in a discussion informed by research and help shape practical, business-led solutions for climate action. Join us to ensure that the initiatives we take forward truly meet your needs and create opportunities for action.

What can I do to help?

You can make your home or workplace cooler by improving insulation, adding shutters to windows, painting your roof and walls white, and increasing greenery

Opt for energy-efficient appliances and light bulbs to cut down on electricity use. Make it a habit to turn off lights and electronics when not in use, and unplug chargers to prevent phantom energy consumption.

Take steps to fix leaks in faucets and pipes, and install water-saving appliances and fixtures. Incorporate water conservation practices into your daily routine, such as turning off taps when not needed.

Consider using public transportation, carpooling, or ridesharing to reduce your carbon footprint. If possible, opt for fuel-efficient or electric vehicles, and explore alternative modes of transportation like walking or biking

Explore options like solar panels or wind turbines for home energy. Choose energy providers that prioritize renewable sources, and advocate for policies that encourage the use of clean energy.

Reduce meat consumption, particularly red meat, and opt for locally sourced and sustainably produced foods. Consider adopting a vegetarian or vegan diet to lower your environmental impact

Share information on climate change and its impacts with friends and family. Encourage sustainable practices, and support educational initiatives in your community to raise awareness.
